| MFV
wants to optimally use the resources
and attention to areas where the need
for curable blindness is relatively
high. As per published statistics,
the national average of cataract surgery
(major cause of blindness) is 0.44%.
Some of the states like Gujarat the
rate is 1% while the northern and
Central states like Bihar, Orissa,
Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh,
Assam, Jharkand, West Bengal have
a rate less than or around 0.3 %.
We intend to look for suitable partners
who can work with us to set up facilities
to reach the blind.
As part of the future expansion plans
for 2010, MFV intends to have 20 partner
hospitals in various states of India,
thereby aiming to support 250,000
surgeries per annum. These should
serve as effective models for like-minded
persons to replicate and make it possible
to eradicate curable blindness in
India.
