The program and activities commenced as a partnership with Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust, Coimbatore in 1990. The program transformed into Mission for Vision (MFV) when a wider group of donors joined with a desire to spread the program to other parts of India. MFV has since grown, over the last decade, to eight seven hospitals in five States performing more than 110,000 surgeries per annum.
 
Realizing the urgent need in Nigeria and the impact of the programs in India, Mission for Vision and Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF), a registered trust in Nigeria, commenced an eye program in 2003 for eradication of curable blindness in Nigeria.Since then, TCF has expanded to four hospitals in four geo-political zones performing in excess of 12,000 surgeries per
