Tulsi Eye Hospital started its journey in Nashik with its Rural Community Outreach program in 1994 at the rented premises of Ayurved Siva Singh, Nashik. With the increase in activities, they shifted to the new Base hospital in 2002.

Today Tulsi Eye Hospital has its full fledged operations including state of the art Laser diagnostics and therapeutic systems, Operation theatres and 105 beds.Since its inception more than 35,000 free surgeries have been performed for the tribal and poor.

Outreach Program

Tulsi Eye Hospital concentrates its activities in 5 Revenue districts in West and Central Maharashtra viz : Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar and Dhule which also includes tribal belt of Dang in Gujarat .

8-10 villages in each of these districts form a cluster and each cluster has an Eye Care Centre where the initial out reach camps are conducted.

The outreach program involves a regular schedule of community mobilization, identification, transportation, surgery and post operative follow up, which systematically covers one geographical location after another. The unique feature of the program is its unprecedented follow-ups. It ensures that every patient is attended to not only immediately post-operative, but also over the medium to long term. This assures the highest quality care to the poorest of the poor at their doorstep.

The first point contact in the Out reach program between Tulsi eye Hospital and the people are the Medical Social Workers ( MSW). Tulsi Eye Hospital employs 5 MSW’s ; each of them accountable for each of the % Revenue Districts.

The state of the art operation theater at Tulsi Eye Hospital is well equipped with imported microscopes, Phacoemulsification equipments and facilities for retinal and oculoplastic surgeries. All surgeries are performed by highly qualified, trained and experienced surgeons using the latest techniques.
